Large Marine Vertebrates Research Institute Philippines (LAMAVE) is a Filipino non-stock, non-profit, non-government organisation dedicated to the conservation of marine megafauna and their habitats in the Philippines. Our vision is a secure and prosperous ocean for marine life and people, achieved through applying science-based solutions to conservation challenges, investing in the transfer of skills for long-term impact at the grassroots level, advancing knowledge to enable people to protect their natural resources and supporting governments in desiring tools for the management of their natural resources. LAMAVE began as a cetacean research project in the Bohol Sea, Philippines in 2010, and has since diversified its conservation focus to encompass whale sharks, marine turtles, rays, and sharks, as well as expanded its research sites to work closely with governments and communities in nine provinces in the Philippines. To date LAMAVE is the largest NGO dedicated to the conservation of marine megafuana in the country.
