Make housing a human right

The world is in crisis. Record breaking numbers of families cannot afford a decent place to call home.

Many households are just a paycheck away from houselessness.

The film UNZIPPED and its impact campaign #RaiseTheRoof are an urgent call to action to create more equitable housing solutions for every community, and every family, in America and around the world.

Homeownership has been one of the defining features of the “American Dream.” Typically, the collective imagination centers comfort, stability, and wealth-building in the concept of “home.” However, homeownership has also been a tool that has widened the gap between the haves and have-nots, while also fueling racial and generational wealth disparities in America.

We can’t fix what we can’t see, but we can illuminate and solve America’s housing crisis together by privileging people and communities over profit.

On this page you can find some ways you can join the movement for housing security. Learn more about the problem, volunteer, watch the film and host a screening in your own community to raise awareness.

“Most shockingly, an average of three homeless citizens die every day on the streets of L.A.”
