Since its inception in 1993, Rainforest Concern has been instrumental in protecting over 2.2 million hectares of native forests and the vast biodiversity they contain. It has worked with 21 partner organisations and 8 indigenous tribes in 13 different countries, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Belize, Suriname, Costa Rica, Panama, Uganda, India, Sri Lanka and Romania.

Rainforest Concern protects threatened habitats and their vulnerable wildlife by direct conservation on the ground, through the purchase of land for private reserves, or in the name of the local NGO or community, and the registration of ancestral indigenous territories. The charity puts in place effective ongoing management and protection measures, working together with local NGO’s and communities, as well as research establishments to monitor the effectiveness of their strategies.
