To achieve its vision SPAC will limit its focus in general on the youth of Africa through formal and informal channels of education, starting at the early childhood development level through to the secondary level, with selected areas of academic research and development at tertiary level. SPAC will partner with educators and equip them to positively influence their learners.
SPAC will, amongst other things, pilot programs in five African countries to enrich the respective school curricula with Africa-centred, nature conservation-related content. This is to enable the youth of Africa to understand the integrated nature of ecosystems and to foster their innate connection to nature, strengthening their resolve to coexist harmoniously with. At tertiary academic level, SPAC will support selected research programmes in the Congo Basin, focusing amongst other things on the impact of human actions on nature and climate change. A communication strategy will be implemented to bridge the information gap between the salient scientific knowledge regarding Africa’s rainforests and general unawareness of such information.
The primary outcome of the above is that well-researched and practical curriculum-related content will be made available on an open platform to be used freely and contextually replicated in as many African countries as possible, whereas the scientific research findings will be disseminated continentally and internationally, through relevant media, to selected audiences.
