Our winners are environmental heroes who lead projects with passion, founded on science and carried out with communities. Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) has developed one of the world’s most respected application processes for conservation awards, and offers three types of grant that enable grassroots conservationists to scale up their work. 

The Whitley Awards - our flagship prizes - help dynamic, mid-career conservationists who are leading projects in their home countries and seeking further funding, support and international profile. The awards are presented annually by our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, at a prestigious awards ceremony in London as part of a week of training and networking in the UK. With each passing year, new winners join our network and are eligible for further funding through WFN's Continuation Funding programme as well as our top prize, the Whitley Gold Award, which recognises those winners who have become some of the most globally-important conservationists working today. We now have over 200 alumni working across 80 countries, in some of the most remote, under-resourced and biodiversity-rich places on earth.
